Memorial Day Weekend is just over a week away and if you’re like some of us here at Hamptons Monthly it snuck up on you quicker expected leaving us a little concerned about our beach-ready bodies. Hey, we’re not judging but we are here to help. Well, not so much us as Trammell Logan, one of NYC and the Hampton’s star SoulCycle instructors.
Logan was born and raised a New York City dancer and his Soul practice draws heavily from that hip hop influence and also incorporates his martial arts training to create a workout that encourages riders to stay positive and have fun while reaching their goals. In addition he’s also the founder and owner of East Side Dance Co., a studio for kids on the Upper East Side. Here he gives us five tips and a 10-song playlist to get us in gear.
1. CLEAN UP YOUR EATING
Avoid processed foods, dairy and refined sugar. If you’re craving something sweet, try fresh fruit with greek yogurt instead.
2. DRINK WATER & GREEN TEA
Have at least half your body weight in water and 2-3 cups of green tea daily.
3. WORKOUT & TRAIN HARD
Whether you’re at the gym or in a class, give it 150%.
4. FIND AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
Consistency is key, and it always helps to have someone motivate you if you start to fall off track.
Without enough sleep, you won’t be able to train hard and will be more likely to make poor eating choices
