Color Me Good

Slip Into a Colorful Summertime Conclusion

This summer has been a hot one, hasn’t it? Unfortunately, one of the things that can go by the wayside when things heat up are wardrobe choices. It gets tricky to layer and pair separates when the temperatures rise and we
can find ourselves clicking into a more utilitarian frame of mind. We want to encourage you to hold on to your sense of style for the remainder of the summer months because there’s something about the bright colors that truly inspire happiness. These looks embrace summer sunshine but are completely wearable, even in a heat wave.

PISTACHIO
Pistachio is a color that sometimes goes overlooked, even during warm weather months. It’s at once very cheery, yet very cool. Mango has unveiled a satin halter dress that will elevate the remainder of the season into an elegant stratosphere. Ideal for a cocktail party or a romantic evening for two, the delicate and creamy green hue gorgeously drapes in the back for a surprising bit of drama as you walk away. We adore this flowy number paired with The Inspiration Bracelet from Songlines By Jewel, which shows sophistication and a rooted connection with the earth.

Another Pistachio stunner comes by way of & Other Stores’ Floral V-Cut Button Up Blouse. A spritely and fun top with a billowy silhouette for a brunch or a daytime soiree, its pistachio backdrop is pattered with adorable white and yellow flowers. However, if you’re after a more dressed down day, we can’t recommend Urban Outfitter’s “The Lion King” crew neck tee enough. Featuring Simba, Timon and Pumba (and Zazu gliding overhead), it’s jolly and evocative of everything that summer represents: fun, togetherness and love. Wear cuffed up in an oversize with a pair of shorts and let your worries go.

ORANGE
While orange is a color most associated with autumn, we love it just as much in summertime. As with pistachio, it’s a jubilant shade, and one that goes so frequently overlooked. The great thing about orange is that it can run the gamut from gentle territory to powerfully bold. The choice is yours.

Zara’s satin pants in tangerine, for example, are a delicate and flowing throwback to Eighties frivolity. A subdued orange, they’re a high-waisted knockout that you can pair with your favorite rock tee. If you want to make a stronger move, J.Crew’s Stella heels in Ratti® Falling Leaves are a strappy pair of heels that kick orange into high gear. The white floral pattern set on a bright orange backdrop, along with the sparkly silver chunky heel, will send a room full of smiles your way. We know you’ll feel absolutely fabulous in Lulus’ Royal Ways Neon Orange Tassel Earrings, a long pair of tassels that cascade down from a set of engraved gold settings.

PURPLE
Want to feel like royalty? Purple has long been the color associated with kings and queens and we can see why. It stands out and apart, expresses depth and yet still manages to be sexy and fun. Anthropologie’s Marble-Dyed Pleated Maxi Skirt is vividly gorgeous, like an eastern water color painting. Designer Siddhartha Bansal has brought facets of traditional Indian culture to the forefront, combining them with contemporary shapes and draping to create something unlike anything you’ll find on the racks. The long pleated detail provides structure, while the swirls of delicate purples undulate freely.

Of course, sometimes you want to feel like royalty when you’re relaxing at home. What better way to do that than in a pair of J.Crew’s Point Sur Seaside Shorts in Faded Lavender. A soft and comfortable daywear short that features an elastic waist, complete with drawstring and roomy leg opening. Slip into these with a plain white tee and you’ll have hearts melting for you. And how about some sneaks? Check out the Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail from Nike. The perforated mesh upper of these running shoes lets your feet breathe, while the double Zoom Air units cushion your soles, supporting your drive to run faster and for longer.
