Renowned and award-winning fashion designer Cynthia Rowley is an expert in her field, full of innovations, ideas and a wealth of knowledge about looking chic in the Hamptons, New York City, and beyond. Her fashions are presented bi-annually at New York Fashion Week, and her signature stores, featured in New York City and Montauk, are hot spots to enhance your look. Hamptons Monthly spoke with Cynthia recently about her brand, looking good in the Hamptons, and more.

Summer is a season of bright colors and bold patterns. What are your suggestions for some city women whose work-week uniform is black-on-black? How do they approach this lighter look?

White on white is just as easy. Get some all white sneakers or flat white mules.

You launched a new fitness collection last month—are these bright and bold style elements also represented there?

Screen Shot 2016-07-05 at 3.32.35 PMWe approach fitness just like we design our ready-to-wear, with great prints, unexpected mixes of color and pops of metallic here and there.

If your day is looking like a class at Physique 57, a quick bite at Buddha Berry followed by a trip to Havens Beach for some sun, what Cynthia Rowley pieces are you wearing?

Pack your CR fitness tote. For Physique 57, do leggings, a one-shoulder crop top with a t-shirt thrown over. Toss your workout clothes in your bag, shower and change into an embroidered cotton top and cutoff jeans for Buddha. Get into your bikini and cover up. If its chilly and you plan to go in the water, wear a wetsuit. And don’t forget your Rowley eyewear.

Now the day has started to wind down and you’re getting dressed for dinner and drinks at 75 Main. What are you reaching for?

At night you’re in the long cotton dress fitted with your favorite leather belt and flat mules.

Rowley Eyewear offers looks for both men and women. What made you branch out to tackle men’s style with this project?

The men’s collection is named after my hubby, Mr. Powers. I personally like to wear a lot of men’s stuff myself, so I think the whole collection is very masculine, but is also for girls.

We’ll give you three situations a guy in the Hamptons could find himself in and you give us which pair of sunglasses you suggest for the occasion.

Another aviator made from acetate—it’s an updated spin on your grandfather’s most trusted pair.

And for women…

What can we expect to see from the brand the rest of the summer and the coming seasons?

There’s so much new stuff. We just launched a big home furnishings collection and have tons of new swim and surf.
